Student Services and Wellness

Española Public Schools will provide full educational opportunity to all children with disabilities, including by taking steps to ensure that children with disabilities have access to the same program options that are available to non-disabled children.

The Mission of the Special Education Department is to ensure academic success for all students in the Española Public Schools to the fullest extent possible.  Our vision is to identify students with disabililites and provide specially designed instruction and supports for academic achievement.  The Special Education Department believes parents are a partner in their child's education and provide monthly parent workshops and training sessions. We support our students and families by providing high quality instruction in the classrooms.

The Special Education Department provides support and technical assistance to schools in order to support students with disabilities and programs.  In addition, this department provides and direct services to students, and is responsible for managing district responses to legal, regulatory, and budgetary matters.
