Rays of Excellence Award
As part of our First Annual Rays of Excellence Award Ceremony, each graduating senior has the opportunity to recognize one teacher or staff member who has had a meaningful impact on their educational journey.
The Rays of Excellence Award honors educators who have made a lasting difference through their commitment to students, high expectations, and positive influence both inside and outside the classroom.
Each senior may submit one nomination.
This submission represents your voice in recognizing a teacher or staff member who has made a difference during your time at Espanola Valley High School
Please note: All nominations and student statements will be read aloud during the Rays of Excellence Award Ceremony as part of the formal recognition of selected teachers.
Recognition should be no longer than 150 words.
Nominations must be submitted by 5:00 pm on May 12th.

We are aware of recent threats involving students at EVHS and are actively working with local law enforcement. Out of an abundance of caution, you may notice an increased police presence on campus in the morning. This is a proactive measure to support the safety and well-being of our school community. We appreciate your continued support and understanding.

AP testing will begin on May 5, 2026. Please see the attached schedule. Please note there is an exam (APUSH) on 5/8 for in-service day.

Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Project’s Summer Youth Intern Program
Designed for students aged 13–18, this program offers a unique chance to explore advanced STEM concepts, scientific methodology, environmental education, and leadership training. Participants will spend two weeks in the field learning to document petroglyphs under the guidance of experienced scientists.

- Dates: Monday - Friday, starting June 8th - June 19 & Saturday, June 13th.
- Application Deadline: May 18, 2026

Join us for the EVHS Alumni Basketball Game, a free community event celebrating our school and the generations of athletes who have represented EVHS. Come enjoy an exciting evening of basketball, reconnect with alumni, and show your school spirit!
We will have door prizes and giveaways throughout the event, and we have also invited community organizations and food vendors to be part of the celebration. We still have space available for additional vendors and organizations who would like to participate.

Summer Internship Positions

Asynchronous Day (work from home) for 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students.

As the weather warms and the number of school days remaining in the year begins to wind down, we often see an increase in student behaviors. We are asking for your support in helping us maintain a safe and focused learning environment for all students.
Please remind your child that confetti eggs and any type of fake weapons are not allowed at school. These items can be disruptive and may create safety concerns.

As part of EVHS 50th Year Celebration, we invite all former basketball players to return to the court for a special Alumni Basketball Game honoring the legacy, pride, and tradition of our program. Join fellow alumni to reconnect with teammates, relive great memories, and celebrate five decades of basketball excellence. Baseball Tryouts
Tryouts will be held Monday–Wednesday, 2/2–2/4, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. Athletes must have a current sports physical and should bring a baseball glove and hat.

If you are interested in playing softball, tryouts will be held February 4th, 5th, and 6th from 4-6 p.m. at the EVHS softball field. Please dress warmly as the afternoons have been getting very cold. If you are currently in another sport but want to try out once that season is complete, please see the athletic director.

Students can receive support with homework help or skill-building in all core content areas. This is a great opportunity to stay on track and build confidence in class.

Northern Rio Grande High School Basketball Tournament
Please be advised that students will not be permitted to attend the NRG Tournament during school hours. Off-campus passes may not be used to attend the tournament.
Students who wish to attend must wait until their academic day has ended and will be required to show their class schedule at the door to verify they are not scheduled to be in class at the time of entry.
All spectators from the general public are asked to enter campus through the student parking lot. This will be the only gate open for the event, not the main campus gate. Please note that entry to the gym should be made through the main gym entrance.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized event.
