Gov MESA

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, the Espanola Valley High School MESA Club brought home top honors at the New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge held at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. Competing with more than 30 high school teams from across the state, our students stood out by developing an innovative STEM solution to this year’s challenge question on how science, technology, engineering, and math can help communities predict, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural disasters.

The Governor’s STEM Challenge is a statewide competition that engages New Mexico high school students in solving real-world problems, while building collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills. The event brings together students, educators, industry partners, and higher education to celebrate student achievement and encourage future careers in STEM fields. Winning teams also gain opportunities to connect with employers and mentors from leading STEM organizations across the state.

Congratulations to the EVHS MESA Club for this outstanding accomplishment and for showcasing the talent, determination, and creativity of our students in STEM!
