In March, our students proudly spoke before the House Appropriations Committee at the 2025 NM Legislative Session in support of the “Lowrider Capital of the World” license plate. Their powerful words highlighted the importance of cultural pride and local identity. By participating in this civic process, they demonstrated what it means to be active, engaged members of their community—using their voices to advocate for something meaningful and uniquely Northern New Mexican.
