It is my honor to work with the staff, students, and parents/guardians within our school community. Carlos F. Vigil Middle School embodies the concept of creating an atmosphere conducive to learning by creating a challenging curriculum where students can seek an identity while gaining an understanding of the subject matter being taught. We attempt to create a safe atmosphere conducive to learning and are apt to initiate intervention strategies when individual needs arise. Students who are in need of services are welcomed with open arms and parents/guardians are kept informed with referrals to outside agencies initiated in order to surround our students with help, care and concern.
I have a staff of 47 licensed professionals. We offer co-curricular as well as extracurricular activities to support student growth and development. Through neighboring partnerships with local agencies a foundation has been created to assist our students. Our school at the top hill is striving to become the best in the Valley.
My door is always open to anyone. Should you wish to visit and see what our school is all about feel free to do so. My intent is to build long-term relationships while supporting adolescent students in their exploratory middle school years. I will strive to have my staff and I work together in attempting make a conscientious effort in being mentors and leaders. We will create the necessary transitioning from middle school to high school.
Again it is my honor to be working and growing with the staff, students, and parents/guardians at Carlos F. Vigil Middle School.
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year. We are very excited to have you and your children as part of the Carlos F. Vigil Middle School Family. Every staff member has been working very hard to prepare for the return of our wonderful students. We have set very high expectations and made plans to guarantee that every student at Carlos F. Vigil Middle School will be successful this school year.
Student academic success is the main goal of every staff member at CFVMS. We believe that every student will learn to the highest level and we are prepared to offer more time and support to every student that needs it. We ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, monitoring your child’s homework, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.
We are very excited about the start of the new school year. In hopes to keep you well informed we will hold 7th Grade Registration on August 5, 2013 and 8th Grade Registration on August 6, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please bring your child’s birth certificate, a proof of address and up to date immunization records.
School starts for 7th grade on Thursday, August 15, 2013 and for 8th grade on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. every day. Students are allowed to come on campus at 7:15 a.m. but not before. For your child’s safety and security, DO NOT drop him/her off before 7:15 a.m. You are invited to come to school with your child on their first day of school to meet their teachers and familiarize yourself with the school and staff. This will assist us in building a relationship with you and your child before the school year starts. Please bring your child’s school supplies at this time.
The Espanola Public School Board has a mandatory dress code for all middle school students. A dress code encourages students to express their individuality through personality and academic achievements, not outward appearances. A copy of the student dress code and school supply list can be found on our website www.k12espanola.org and at the Espanola Wal-Mart Supercenter.
You may contact your child’s teachers, principals and other staff at any time via email. All staff email addresses can be found in the 2013-2014 CFVMS Cardinal Handbook. Please remember to read and go over the Cardinal Handbook. The handbook contains information that will answer most questions that you will have concerning Carlos F. Vigil Middle School. Refer to the CFVMS handbook to find out about fees, athletics, dress code, field trips, and lots of other pertinent information.
We look forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year. Help us to develop a positive working relationship between the home and school to provide your child with the best opportunity to be a successful student at Carlos F. Vigil Middle School. Thank you for your support!
