A Message from our Principal

Dear students, parents, and guardians,

As we approach another exciting year in the education of your sons or daughters educational careers, I welcome you to the 2014-2015 School Year. The challenges to provide a quality education for your children continue to grow every year. The Public Education Department (PED) is requiring more accountability and transparency than ever before. Both administration and staff are held to more requirements in the areas of; Academic Rigor, Engagement and Assessment. My staff and I are continuously examining means and ways to provide comprehensive instructional programs that are research based and meet the needs of our students. In order to meet these requirements our school staff is committed to undergo extensive professional development in the various areas of instruction.

With all the shootings and other tragedies in schools nationwide in recent years we have developed a safety plan that meets the requirements of the PED, School Board Policies, and District Regulations. The safety of our students and staff is a high priority in our school.

I am also proud to inform you the CFVMS was accredited by North Central Accreditation this past school year. Our goal is to maintain our accreditation status and we have upgraded our Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS) and a School Improvement Plan for all of our programs. I would like to thank our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) and our staff for their continuous support in this long term process.

I encourage you to stay involved in your child’s education. Please visit our school and your student’s teachers and be a part of our teams, together we can build a lasting foundation and our students will have a successful future.

Thank You,

Robert J. Archuleta, Principal

Sincerely,
Robert Archuleta
Principal

Welcome to CFVMS!

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year. We are very excited to have you and your children as part of the Carlos F. Vigil Middle School Family. Every staff member has been working very hard to prepare for the return of our wonderful students. We have set very high expectations and made plans to guarantee that every student at Carlos F. Vigil Middle School will be successful this school year.

Student academic success is the main goal of every staff member at CFVMS. We believe that every student will learn to the highest level and we are prepared to offer more time and support to every student that needs it. We ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, monitoring your child’s homework, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.

Students are allowed to come on campus at 7:15 a.m. but not before. For your child’s safety and security, DO NOT drop him/her off before 7:15 a.m. You are invited to come to school with your child on their first day of school to meet their teachers and familiarize yourself with the school and staff. This will assist us in building a relationship with you and your child before the school year starts. Please bring your child’s school supplies at this time.

The Espanola Public School Board has a mandatory dress code for all middle school students.  A dress code encourages students to express their individuality through personality and academic achievements, not outward appearances. A copy of the student dress code and school supply list can be found on our website www.k12espanola.org and at the Espanola Wal-Mart Supercenter.

You may contact your child’s teachers, principals and other staff at any time via email. All staff email addresses can be found in the 2013-2014 CFVMS Cardinal Handbook. Please remember to read and go over the Cardinal Handbook.  The handbook contains information that will answer most questions that you will have concerning Carlos F. Vigil Middle School.  Refer to the CFVMS handbook to find out about fees, athletics, dress code, field trips, and lots of other pertinent information.

We look forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year.  Help us to develop a positive working relationship between the home and school to provide your child with the best opportunity to be a successful student at Carlos F. Vigil Middle School.  Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

CFVMS Faculty and Staff
