Hernandez Elementary

Hernandez Elementary School boundaries exist along Highway 84/285.  The school community extends to the south along Prince Drive for about three miles north and to Medanales for about six miles.  The school serves kindergarten through sixth grade students with a student population from 185-200.  The school site maintains one-two classrooms per grade level during most school years.

During the summer months, Hernandez Elementary School, provides summer tutoring through our K-3 plus program.

I would like to take this time and welcome everyone back for the 2014-2015 school year. I am pleased to announce that our school earned a "B" School Grade through the New Mexico Department of Public Education.  

Hernandez Elementary School has a Staff that is committed to provide the best education for your child.  Our students are provided with a rigorous curriculum that will help them become life long learners.

Hernandez Elementary School believes that everyone in the community has a responsibility to support, guide, and respect one another.  The staff and parents are committed to providing all students with academic skills in the core areas to become successful in school and life endeavors.


Hernandez Elementary School and our community believe in high academic standards and recognize and promote educational challenges and opportunities to assure learning for life.

Dress Code

The District encourages that our students take pride in their attire as it relates to the school setting.  Students should dress in a manner that takes into consideration the educational environment, safety, health, and welfare of self and others.
Students must wear appropriate clothing and shoes at all times.  Sagging pants/shorts will not be worn in school premises or during school activities, this includes spandex or tight fitting attire.  Half length or bare midriff shirts/blouses, muscle shirts, or anything exposing body parts are prohibited.

Los estudiantes deben de usar la ropa y los zapatos apropiados toda las veces.  Los pantalones que ceden/ los cortocircuitos ni el disefio de la manera de pantalones que ceden o de cortocircuitos ne seran usados en premisas de las escuela o durante actividades de la escuela.
Los estudiantes ne deben usar las camisetas, las tapas del tanque, las tapas del halter.  Gracias para su ayuda.
